This version of the drivers includes a pre-release version of the RenderPIX Setup application, which allows you to optimize the card for your software.
Installation steps:
1) Remove all existing "Render Pix" files from the extensions folder, which is in the system folder.
2) Remove the "RenderPix Prefs" file from the Preferences folder, which is in the system folder.
3) Close the System folder, and drag the three new RenderPIX files to the system folder. The three files are:
RenderPix Init
Render Pix Engine
Render Pix 3D
The system will ask if the files should be placed in the extensions folder—click OK.
4) Copy the “RenderPIX Setup” application to a convenient location on your hard disk. You may open the application and change the settings (described below).
5) Restart the system.
RenderPIX Setup
Quit any 3D applications that are running. When you open the RenderPIX Setup application, you will see a window with three options. Make your selections, and click OK. The options are:
Texture Quality vs Performance
This setting only affects the performance of texture-mapped drawing, and allows you to choose between better performance and better quality.
Support Context Caching
This setting activates context caching for those applications that use it, such as the Electric Image Modeler. We recommend that you disable context caching if your application does not use it.
Support Alpha Blending
You will gain a small performance increase if you disable alpha blending. Leave this option on if your software supports alpha blending (transparency) in QuickDraw 3D previews.
